About Me

I am a Research Staff Member in the AI Foundations Lab at IBM Thomas J. Watson Research Center. My research interests include machine learning and its applications to big data analytics. Most recently, I have focused on large-scale low-rank matrix recovery and deep neural networks. I have published a number of papers on prestigious machine learning and data mining venues, including ICML, NIPS, KDD, AAAI, ICDM, and Machine Learning Journal. Besides, my developed algorithms have been used in multiple IBM products such as World of Watson Session Expert System and Expertise Locator System. I have more than 10 US patents granted or pending across large-scale data management, privacy preserved data sharing, location context inference, events prediction, feature engineering, spatial-temporal analysis, and customer profile learning.

Before joining IBM Research, I received my Ph.D. degree in Computer Science at Michigan State University in 2014, under the supervision of Prof. Rong Jin. At MSU, I also worked closely with Prof. Anil K. Jain. Prior to my Ph.D., I received my Bachelor's degree in Information Security from University of Science and Technology of China in 2009.
