Log Host

marmara saves log information in /usr/local/log. See /etc/syslog.conf for details on how log information is saved.

Several different logfiles are saved. All logfiles are rotated weekly.

/usr/local/log/scripts contains scripts that generate reports based on the log information. These scripts are run nightly. The scripts are

• connect.pl reports all outside connections made to cse machines.
• spammers.pl reports all attempts to relay mail through a machine.
• errors.pl reports the number of error messages produced by a machine.
