Eric Kasten received the B.S. degree in mathematics and computer science from Central Michigan University in 1989, the M.S. degree in computer science from Michigan State University in 1997, and received Ph.D. in computer science from Michigan State University in 2007. He is currently a Senior Research Associate in the Remote Environmental Assessment Laboratory, and a Research Scientist in the Global Observatory for Ecosystem Services, both at Michigan State University. His current research interests include autonomic computing, dynamic system adaptation, and data stream processing and mining in support of ecosensing and adaptive mobile computing. He has 9 years of experience in developing software for real-time data stream processing for scientific applications, and more than 15 years of experience designing and deploying computer systems and networks.
