About

Welcome to my portfolio website. I'm currently a Senior at Michigan State University majoring in Computer Science. Along with my major, I have a cognate (minor) in Business and have completed the Game Design Specialization. I expect to graduate this Spring, May 2011.

My main interest in this field has been programming. I enjoy writing software and the challenges that come with it. My goal after college is to be settled in a career as a Software Developer.

As you'll notice from this website, I have a strong passion for making games. I think taking a focus on game development has helped in all aspects of improving my skills as a Software Developer though. Developing a games requires intense cooperation with team members who bring drastically different skill sets to the table. It has also introduced me to a variety of languages and technologies that expand my understanding when it comes to tackling a new, unique problem.

Of course, besides just making games, playing games is one of my favorite hobbies. One of the best ways to improve yourself is to learn from the success and failures of others, and using this site I hope to share what I've learned from my gameplay experiences.

Currently Working On...

For semester long project in TC 498 - Collaborative Game Design, I've been working as a programmer on an 8 person team. The project has involved working with an external client and building a game from the ground up, going through the stages of pitching, alpha, and beta. My contributions have been in implementing the game logic for obstacles and handling the touch input for the device. We've been using Unity 3.2 and C#.

For semester long project for CSE 498 - Collaborative Design, I've been working as a programmer on a 4 person team. We are working with The Boeing Company and developing a Battleship like game for their research and simulation team. My contributions have mostly been on the visual end because of my familiarity with OpenGL. I've handled camera controls, game board display, particles systems, lighting, some GUI elements, and the game logic that is associated with the changing of those items.
