David B. Knoester

Hi! I'm Dave Knoester (that's Ka-noo-ster), an NSF Postdoctoral Fellow in the Adami Lab at Michigan State University. I'm currently studying the use of advanced cyberinfrastructure in computational evolutionary biology, under the CI TraCS program. My PhD is in computer science and ecology, evolutionary biology, and behavior, from Michigan State University. My research interests include digital and biological evolution, self-organizing systems, and distributed computing systems. I'm part of the BEACON Center for the Study of Evolution in Action, and a past member of both the Digital Evolution Lab (Devolab) and the Software Engineering and Network Systems (SENS) lab. In the past I have researched network application fingerprinting and the use of machine learning systems for network intrusion detection.

I have also held a number of industry positions, including that of software architect at FactSet, embedded systems engineer at General Motors, and systems programmer for MSU's Identity Management team.
