CSE425, Introduction to Computer Security, provides an introduction to a variety of topics in computer security for juniors and seniors majoring in computer science and computer engineering.

Course topics include

Security Engineering
  • smartcard systems,
  • critical infrastructure,
  • usability and psychology,
  • protocols,
  • access controls,
  • buffer overflow,
  • cryptography and cryptanalysis,
  • the Data Encryption Standard (DES),
  • the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES),
  • review of TCP/IP,
  • network attack methods,
  • firewalls, and
  • biometrics.
