Week 1

What you should be doing this week:

  • Watch the videos, look at the readings/slides.
  • Do the prelabs. Did you understand the material? This is an opportunity to check yourself. Due 09/06 before midnight on D2L
  • Attend your scheduled lab section. You cannot arbitrarily show up for a more convenient section.

Special Note for Section 730, online folks

Obviously you don't have a scheduled lab, but you will see in the lab description that there is a Mimir handin site and submitting to Mimir before the deadline of Friday, 5pm (after the last scheduled lab of the week) will get you credit for the lab.

As the "standard" in the scheduled labs is a "good faith effort", the TAs will look through the labs each week and mark your work as present/absent on D2L. If you get 50% of the Mimir tests, you are automatically "present". If less than that, the TAs will look at your Mimir submission and make a judgement as to your good faith effort.

  • Do the project before the deadline. Projects are due every Monday (except exam weeks) before midnight.

Please go to D2L , Login and do the prelab. It is listed on your calendar. It must be completed before midnight on Thur, 09/06. These are typically multiple choice, read some code kinds of questions, and this is a typical example. We will have one of these every week.

The intent of the labs is to have an opportunity to work collaboratively on a problem, a problem similar to the project due that week. Thus you must do the lab during your lab section time. Except for the online students (section 730), you cannot do the lab early . Do it with colleagues during the lab time. The TAs will instruct you that if you don't do the lab during the lab period, you will not get credit for the lab.

Project 01
