I am a non-traditional Ph.D. student studying under Dr. Betty Cheng. I enjoy a challenging full-time career in my small family business, and I spend many of my remaining waking hours on my research. Fortunately, with the encouragement of my gracious advisor, my research focus will have useful applications to my business.
I am exploring the subject of enterprise modeling. An enterprise is basically a business, but I suppose the term "enterprise" is used to avoid confusion with historically abused and overused phrases such as "business modeling". My core interests in this topic are to:

I've been invited to speak at the 2008 Conference of the International Alliance of Avaya Users (InAAU) in March 2008. Avaya is an interesting company which emerged from Lucent which emerged from AT&T Bell Labs. My business is one of first two sites in the United States to implement Avaya's newest call center application known as Customer Interaction Express (CIE). Since we were a pilot site for the product, Avaya likes it when I talk about my experience. This is some very cool technology that I will write about sometime in the near future. At the very least, I'll post my conference presentation.
