  2. In the Finder window that appears, scroll down and locate the icon labeled "Optional Installs" (or "Optional Installs.mpkg", depending on how you've configured your Mac). Double-click this icon to begin the installation.
  3. Click the "Continue" button on the following screen and proceed through the screens involving license agreements, installation location, and so on.
  4. When you reach the screen containing a large list of checkboxes and items to install, expand the "Applications" option and select "X11" near the bottom of the list.
  5. Click the "Upgrade" button, and enter your password if prompted.
  6. Wait for the installation to finish. When the installer informs you that the software was successfully installed, click the "Close" button.
  7. You're finished! To use the newly installed X11 software, go to Applications > Utilities and look for an icon labeled "X11".
