The College of Engineering's Homecoming Tailgate was a huge success
with some 250 attendees. Dean Udpa received many positive comments
about the event. The BBQ and a visit by Sparty were great, but the
highlight of the event was the chance for alumni to talk to current
students, faculty and advisors and to view their accomplishments
first-hand. A lot of alumni returned to their homes feeling positive
about the College, in general, and CSE, in particular!
MSU students Brian Hasselbeck, Rob Rutherford, and Jayson Vincent did
an outstanding job of featuring the Boeing capstone projects to
hundreds of engineering alumni and friends at the College of
Engineering tent before the football game. They used two large flat
panel displays (provide by CSE's Adam Pitcher) driven by two laptops.
They used the flat panel displays to demo flight visualization
software both from this semester and previous semesters, including the
Blue Angels visualization system. Laptops were used for PowerPoint
slides and for a live internet connection to Boeing's web site. You
can find more information about the MSU/Boeing capstone project at
http://cse498t02s.cse.msu.edu.
MSU students April Noren and Heather Melville also proved to be
outstanding ambassadors for CSE, informing alumni of MSUWIC, our new
Women in Computing Group, and fielding alumni questions. MSUWIC
created a special poster for the event. You can find more information
about MSUWIC at http://www.egr.msu.edu/msuwic.
CSE extends a special thanks to faculty and advisors who attended the
event, and to a great group of student volunteers. Thanks also to the
College of Engineering for sponsoring the tailgate and to Boeing for
sponsoring our student capstone team.
