MSU/ACM has remarkable year
The MSU Student Chapter of the
Association for Computing Machinery noticeably increased both
its membership and its activities in 2003-04. It has long sponsored
a wide variety of activities, from video game contests to weekly
faculty/student donut hours. This year, it organized the election
of student representatives to department standing committees and
also offered a free help session for any interested students, an
online tutoring matching service, and a free web site design service
for student groups. Clients of the design service include the MSU Solar Car Team, Satrang 2004, and Alternative Spring Break of MSU.
In addition, a team of students representing the MSU/ACM Chapter Chapter placed 7th of 131 teams at the ACM Regional Programming Contest.
Thanks go to the outgoing student officers, Shailesh Saini
(President), Mihai Peteu (Vice President), John Kyritses
(Treasurer), Maciej Skierkowski (Webmaster), Arthur Covert
(Secretary), Thomas Wolf (PR), and Josh Davidson (SEC
Representative); to their advisors, George Stockman, Jane Evarian,
and Charles Ofria; and to many dedicated members. Our active
MSU/ACM Chapter improves the quality of the student experience at
MSU. It provides students opportunities to develop leadership and
communication skills and to form lasting friendships.
Recently elected to lead our MSU/ACM Chapter for the coming year are:
- President - Tom Wolf
- Vice President - Art Covert
- Treasurer - John Kyritses
- Public Relations/SEC Rep - Faheem Kabeer
- Secretary - Joseph Blaim
Congratulations to these student leaders, and best of luck in 2004-05!
