Charles Ofria and Richard Lenski (Hannah Professor of Microbial
Ecology) have received an award from the National Science Foundation
for the project "Reimagining Evolutionary Computation". The 3-year
award is through the Division of Computer and Communication
Foundations under their program on Emerging Models and Technologies
for Computation (EMT). The project will explore the dynamics of
evolving populations and use concepts from these systems to design new
problem-solving techniques that are more grounded in the natural world
than traditional evolutionary computation approaches.
