Sascha Konrad is 2005 Most Oustanding Graduate Student in CSE

Sascha Konrad is working on a PhD degree with Dr. Betty Cheng. After
receiving his intermediate diploma from University of Kaiserslautern
in Germany in 2001, he completed his MS thesis at Michigan State
University with Dr. Cheng in August 2003. To date, he has maintained
a perfect 4.0 GPA for both his MS and PhD course work. He has an
outstanding publication record including highly-selective venues, such
as IEEE Transactions on Software Engineering, and the premier
conference in software engineering, IEEE Conference on Software
Engineering. Over the past three and half years, he has published
seven refereed journal and conference publications and given four
international presentations.

Sascha is highly recognized for his work on developing patterns that
facilitate the early phases of software development. He has developed
object analysis and specification patterns for modeling and analyzing
requirements-level information of embedded systems. In particular, his
work has focused on safety-critical industrial applications, such as
automotive systems. His work has been extremely well-received by the
academic and the industrial communities. Furthermore, numerous
industrial organizations are applying and customizing his patterns for
their respective application domains. He was recently awarded a summer
internship with Siemens to apply his research to their applications in
the automation and control systems area.

Sascha has become a leader in the SENS laboratory, providing technical
leadership for research projects, as well as systems administration
expertise. He also serves as the financial officer of the International
Students Association at Michigan State University.
