Dr. Serge Belongie:

Serge Belongie was born in Sacramento, California, in 1974. He received the B.S. degree (with honor) in Electrical Engineering from the California Institute of Technology in 1995 and the Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences (EECS) at U.C. Berkeley in 2000. While at Berkeley, his research was supported by a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship. He is also a co-founder of Digital Persona, Inc., and the principal architect of the Digital Persona fingerprint recognition algorithm. His research interests include computer vision, pattern recognition, machine learning and digital signal processing.

Dr. David G. Stork:

Dr. David G. Stork is Chief Scientist of the Ricoh California Research Center as well as Consulting Associate Professor of Electrical Engineering and Visiting Lecturer in Computer Science at Stanford University. A former distinguished lecturer of the ACM, Dr. Stork sits on the editorial boards of five journals, and has published numerous peer-reviewed papers and book chapters as well as five books, including most recently Pattern Classification (2nd ed.) with R. Duda and P. Hart (Wiley, 2000). He is the creator and host of the forthcoming PBS television documentary "2001: HAL's Legacy," based on his book HAL's Legacy: 2001's computer as dream and reality (MIT Press).
