Girl Scout Workshop

"It was a fun program and I am glad I came. I learned a lot about computers and how easy and fun they can be!"
- Girl Scout workshop attendee

MSU WIC holds a bi-annual workshop for girl scouts from Michigan meant to introduce the computer science field to younger girls by leading them through tutorials on HTML, CSS, and Scratch. Studies show that up until middle school, interest in the science and math fields is about equal between girls and boys but, around their teen years, the percentage of girls interested in pursuing a science or math career significantly drops off. We hope that, by holding these workshops and showing how fun math and science can be when given a practical application, we will be working to reverse this unfortunate trend.
