Organizing Committee and Program Committee
ICDCS is the premier conference in distributed computing systems and provides a forum for engineers and
scientists in academia, industry, and government to present and discuss their
latest research findings on a broad array of topics in distributed computing. The conference
is sponsored by the IEEE Computer Society Technical Committee on Distributed
Processing. The proceedings of the conference and the workshops will
be published by the IEEE Computer Society Press.
TECHNICAL PROGRAM
(May 20-22) (Advance Program)
The main component of the
ICDCS technical program is the presentation of submitted research papers.
ICDCS 2003 was highly competitive, and the program committee selected only
72 out of 406 submitted papers. Topics include, but are not limited to the
following:
| Peer-to-peer computing services | Fault Tolerance and self-stabilizing systems |
| Security of network infrastructures | Real-time and embedded systems |
| Ubiquitous computing and smart spaces | Adaptive and reconfigurable software |
| Energy-aware systems and sensor networks | Location- and context-aware systems |
| Cryptographic key management | Distributed algorithms and consensus |
| Overlay networks architectures | |
| Mobile
agents and mobile code |
Multimedia
streaming protocols |
| Ad
hoc wireless networks |

KEYNOTE ADDRESSES AND PANEL
SESSION
Each day of the conference
will begin with a keynote address. This year we are very pleased to
announce keynote addresses to be delivered by three outstanding leaders in
the field of computing: Kristofer
Pister, Alex
(Sandy) Pentland, and Alfred
Spector. In addition, the technical program will include a plenary
panel session on Middleware for Sensor Networks.
WORKSHOPS (May 19)
In addition to the main conference, ICDCS 2003 will host several
workshops, enabling focused discussion of timely topics. For a list of workshops
and advance programs, please visit the workshops web page: http://www.cse.msu.edu/icdcs/workshops.
POSTER SESSION and DOCTORAL SYMPOSIUM
ICDCS 2003 will also host a poster
session and a doctoral symposium.
The goal of the poster session is to promote early exchange of novel ideas
and introduce work-in-progress. The goal of the doctoral symposium session
is to give current PhD students, whose work will be selected for presentation
through a competition, extensive feedback on their PhD topic, approach,
and results.
VENUE
The conference will be held on the beautiful campus of Brown University in Providence,
Rhode Island, at an ideal time of the year. A block of rooms has been
reserved at a nearby hotel and transportation will be provided to and from
the campus. In addition to the technical program, a variety of social activities
are planned in and around Providence.
