My Machine is Named What?

A guide to the naming convention for CSE computers.

Bones
Machines in the EB 3203 instructional lab are named for various bones in the human body. This lab is populated with Dell Optiplex 270 workstations running Windows XP.

Elements
HSNP workstations are named for the elements; the lab's main fileserver is named element.

Bobs
Workstations in EB 3340 are named after famous people named Bob. These are Dell Optiplex 280 running Debian linux.

Moons
GARAGe workstations are named for moons.

Musical instruments
PRIP Lab machines are named for musical instruments, ancient and modern, from around the world.

Rivers
Machines in the EB 3320 instructional lab are named for rivers. This lab is populated with Dell Optiplex 270 running Windows XP.

Seas
The instructional system servers located in the EB 3300 machine room are named after large bodies of water.

Simpsons
Machines in the EB 3353 instructional lab are named for Simpsons characters. This lab is populated with Sun Ultra 20 with half running Debian linux and half running Windows XP.
