| 1. Open SSH Secure Shell Client |
| 2. Screen Shot: Choose Quick Connect Button |
| 3. Screen Shot: Host is 'arctic.cse.msu.edu'. Enter your cse user name, Port Number 22, and Authentication is Password. |
| 4. Screen Shot: The first time you connect it will ask to save a key. Choose yes. |
| 5. Screen Shot: If you would like to add this to your ssh profile, type in a name like "arctic" and click Add. |
| 6. Screen Shot: Next time just click on profiles, and select the one you added and it will only ask for your password. |

| 1. Click Edit->Settings->Tunneling |
| 2. Screen Shot: Choose the option for Tunnel X11 Connection |
| 3. Make sure you File->Save Settings if you want X11 Tunneling as a default value |
| 4. Open X-Win32 |
| 5. Connect to Arctic with SSH |
| Any applications that writes to the display will show up on your XWin.... all encrypted |

| With Profiles: |
| 1. Login using the profile you want to change the setting for. |
| 2. Choose Edit->Settings->Tunneling |
| 3. Screen Shot: Choose the option for Tunneling X11 Connections |
| 4. Make sure you File->Save Settings to save tunneling for that profile |
| 5. Open X-Win32 |

| Secure FTP SSH for Windows |
| 1. Open Secure File Transfer

| 2. Choose Quick Connect or Profiles same as SSH above |
| 3. You will be presented with a romote view and a local view. |
| Once Connected, drag and drop files from local view to the remote view |

| SSH for unix/linux |
| ssh is invoked with a simple command line. "ssh --help" for all the options |
| "ssh arctic" if your current username is the same as the username on arctic |
| "ssh username@arctic" to force a different username |
| the -X option will enable X11 forwarding. This might be needed to open a seperate emacs. |

| Secure FTP using SSH for unix/linux |
| secure ftp is invoked with the command "sftp". Similar usage as ssh |
| "sftp username@arctic" |
| "put" and "get" work the same as ftp except mput and mget is not needed anymore. |
