The system is a Java-based system which allows for the tracking the amount of time a particular applet is used by any user. It uses a server side Java application as well as a client side Java applet. The system is served by an ASP web site using Visual Basic scripting. The website allows for maintenance, queries, and other such functions for both the user and an administrator. The goal of the project is to eventually charge users for the use of applets. This seems unlikely, but considering the price of a good office software package, pay-per-use pricing may be more attractive to some users in the near future.
