This project seeks to develop educational programs in the design of high-assurance systems and to enhance outreach linkages to local industry and state government. The proposed activities (partially funded by MSU's Quality Fund), initially involving four MSU colleges, represent a first step toward establishing a Center for High-assurance Systems at MSU. The Center is planned to be self-sustaining with funding from federal agencies, the State of Michigan, and industrial partners. In addition to serving MSU students, the Center will provide an "extension service" to local industry and State government in key areas (e-commerce and supply chain management, manufacturing, management of natural resources, and homeland security) and will serve as an economic engine for the State of Michigan.
The main objectives of the educational activities are:
In its initial stages, the project will target four application domains:
Embedded control systems for manufacturing and transportations systems |
Sensor networks and related technologies for homeland security |
Information assurance technologies for e-commerce and supply-chain management |
Computing technologies for monitoring and assessing quality of ecosystems |
