Chai awarded NSF Grant
Joyce Chai, Associate Professor of Computer Science and Engineering, has been awarded an NSF grant for the project titled "Towards an Infrastructure for Research on Multimodal Language Processing in Situated Human Robot Dialogue".

A new generation of robots is emerging that aims to interact with humans on a daily basis to provide service, care, and companionship. To support natural interaction between a human and this type of robot, robust language processing enabling situated human robot dialogue has become increasingly important. This project will develop a new infrastructure that will promote understanding of human multimodal language behavior and facilitate development and evaluation of multimodal language processing techniques in situated human robot dialogue.
