Alex Liu, assistant professor of computer science and engineering, and Eric Torng, associate professor and graduate director of computer science and engineering, have been awarded a research grant from the Research in Networking Technology and Systems (NeTS) Program from the National Science Foundation for a project entitled “Algorithmic Approaches to Optimizing Hardware-Based Packet Classification Systems via Equivalent Transformation.” This project develops advanced algorithms to compress the rule sets used in hardware-based packet classification systems via a novel approach of list-level equivalent transformation. This research effort will yield fundamental building blocks for future scalable high speed routers and firewall |
