Prerequisite Substitution Request

Use this "PREREQUISITE" form IF AND ONLY IF you plan to take a prerequisite course at another institution and you meet all other course restrictions.
WHAT ARE THE PREREQUISITES?  WHAT COURSES ARE ACCEPTABLE AS SUBSTITUTES?
  • Check the University's list of acceptable substitutes from other institutions.
INSTRUCTIONS
  • Fill out ALL fields.
  • THIS ACTION IS CONDITIONAL:   If we accept the substitute and enable registration, you must bring proof of passing the substitute to the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, 3115 Engineering Building, before August 19th.   On that day we will begin dropping students who have not provided evidence of passing.
  • PROOF:   Provide a copy of a transcript or grade sheet with the substitute course highlighted.    On the copy or attached to the copy provide the information you entered on this form: MSU PID, MSU course, substitute course.
  • We hope to process prerequisite substitution requests within one week.   We will email you at the PilotID you entered when the decision is made.
EXAMPLE:
If you plan to take Calculus I at another institution in order to satisfy the prerequisite for CSE 231, then enter CSE 231 as the course number, select MTH 132 as the prerequisite to be substituted, and enter the institution and course you plan to take.

NOTES:

  • A prerequisite substitution does not enable enrollment in a full section nor affect other restrictions.
  • If you don't provide proof of passing by August 19th, you will be dropped from the course so that someone else can take the seat.
