Kurt Stirewalt worked in in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering from 1998 through 2009, when he left academia to become Vice President and Chief Application Architect at LogicBlox. He received his PhD from the Georgia Tech College of Computing in 1997. Prior to joining MSU, he worked as a Research Scientist at the Georgia Tech Graphics Visualization and Usability (GVU) Center and as a member of the technical staff at the MITRE Coporation in McLean VA.
Dr. Stirewalt's research uses formal models to support the design, verification, generation, and maintenance of large software systems. His current work focuses on hybrid transactional/analytic distributed systems and Cloud-deployed deductive databases. While at Michigan State, he was a principal investigator for the Szumo, Copse, and SaUML projects.
